GRE score calculator

Turn raw practice accuracy into an estimated scaled score and total. It runs the same section-adaptive logic as a real GRE, so the number reflects how the test actually rewards correct answers.

The GRE is section-adaptive: how you do on Section 1 routes Section 2 to an easy, medium, or hard pool, and that band caps your score. We estimate your band from your accuracy, so the harder the band you reach, the higher your ceiling.

Scaled scores are an estimate, accurate to about ±2 points, using the same engine as our mock tests. The Verbal and Quant percentiles are the exact official ETS figures for each scaled score. The total percentile is a normal-model estimate.

Why raw correct does not map cleanly to a scaled score

The GRE is section-adaptive, not flat. Both Verbal and Quant give everyone a medium Section 1; how many you get right there routes Section 2 to an easier or harder pool, and that pool caps your scaled score. Two people with the same number correct can land a few points apart depending on where their hardest questions sat. That is why this is an estimate, accurate to about two scaled points, not an official conversion.

Once you have a scaled score, convert it to its exact official percentile with our percentile calculator, or sit a full section-adaptive mock for a score that accounts for the routing directly. See our editorial standards for how the engine is built.
